At 11:22 AM on October 2nd, 2008 Patrick Benen Ueltschey was born, weighing 8 pounds 10 ounces, with length 22 inches, head circumference 141/2″.
I tried to capture the feel of the thing, but of course pictures don’t do justice to the joy of the arrival of our newest family member.
Pictures.
We plan to call him Ben.

The Burtons’ visit

Here are some great pictures of the Burtons’ visit in Mid-August. We went to the Oregon Zoo, Cannon Beach, and downtown Portland. It was unusually hot for the Pacific NW, but we struggled through and had a great time.

Arm Chair Strategist

This is a movie review, sort of…
I just finished watching Inside the Green Berets, a documentary about our operations against the Taliban in Afghanistan.
The movie was well made for what is was. It was short at 60 minutes. It was short in part because it was cut short. The circumstances leading to the abrupt end [...]

Interesting Times

Sadly, I think that this may be a sign of things to come. A large bank in Southern California has failed.
The bank is blaming it on a run caused by a senator’s open letter expressing concern. Interestingly this bank specialized in Alt-A loans, which are basically one step up in quality from the sub-prime loans. [...]

Some call it creative

Yo-yo’s and turtles are my favorite friends.
I keep laundry in my basket brain pantyhose holder.
Try not to let the light blow you away.
The only thing we have is having things.
That is sad.
These posts our post up post it notes

Not going places that we avoid
Naturally
It keeps us going back and [...]

Bubbles

I just read an interesting article on financial bubbles.
Surely people are getting tired of all the talk of economic woes, and yet I think the ongoing economic crisis will take and even more central position in our lives over the next months.

Performance, Sportsmanship and Chance

I love games. Board games, computer games and sports if I wasn’t so lazy. I like to play and I am good at competing.
I don’t always win, though; and this has been a source of some trouble. Life has a way of putting us in our places, and I have had my share of opportunities [...]
